MAA Students Recognize Their Grade School Teachers

Wednesday, December 14th, 2011 In Admissions News, Development News

“It started off as a simple assignment,” stated Marina Tadros, Director of Recruitment at Mount Assisi Academy High School. “I went into the freshmen classes and asked the girls to write an essay titled, ‘Because of You’. The girls were asked to pick a former teacher and explain how they have impacted their life academically and/or emotionally. The response from the girls was overwhelming. The essays were well written and fully articulated how these teachers truly did influence their former students into the young ladies they are today; I then knew I had to take this essay one step further.”

On December 8th, Mount Assisi invited all the nominated teachers and held a ceremony. At the ceremony each student read a portion of their essay that summed up the essence of how their former teacher impacted her life. Each student then presented their teacher with an award honoring them for their outstanding guidance and support, through his/her teachings and moral compass of principles. The teacher and former student spent the rest of the evening catching up and reminiscing about old times.

The teachers that were recognized respectfully teach at Catholic and non-Catholic Schools in the Chicagoland area such as, S.S. Cyril and Methodius, St. Christina, St. Joseph of Summit, St. Daniel the Prophet, Palos South, Cardinal Joseph Bernardin, St. Bernadette, St. Rene Goupil, St. John Fisher, St. Jane de Chantal, Our Lady of the Ridge, Mohawk Elementary, George F. Cassell, Mount Greenwood and Sts. Peter and Paul. Mount Assisi looks forward to continuing this tradition for many years to come.
