MAA Dance Team Winds Up 2010 Season

Mount Assisi Academy’s Dance team competed Saturday February 27, 2010, at Downers Grove North High School in their final regular season competition and earned first place honors in their division with a score of 77.4 – falling 2.6 points short of post-season competition.

The squad, coached by Ms. Eileen Breslin, was awarded high scores throughout the season’s schedule, placing first in its division at the February 20 Navy Pier competition and the January 23 Rolling Meadows meet.

“The team’s competition performances moved up to the next level during this season,” commented Coach Breslin. “In facing tough competition, your own level of performance naturally goes up a notch. In the end we were so close to qualifying for the State meet, but it didn’t happen,” she continued. “We are losing only three seniors to graduation, so the core of the team will be ready to ratchet it up for the 2010-2011 season,” Coach Breslin concluded.

Members of Mount Assisi’s 2009-2010 Dance Team include junior co-captains Mary Kate Moran (Crestwood) and Sara Terzich (Crestwood); seniors Chelsey O’Brien (Lockport), Jenna O’Malley (Palos Heights) and Bridget Williams (Orland Park); junior Valerie Harvey (Chicago-Garfield Ridge); sophomores Amber Bielunski (Orland Park), Alexis Jara (Chicago-Garfield Ridge), Natalie Munoz (Tinley Park), Desiree Rivas (Homer Glen), and Jaimie Vayalil (OrlandPark); and freshmen Brianna Cavallone (Palos Heights), Amber Koenig (Chicago- Clearing) and Alyssa Sajdak (Chicago-Garfield Ridge).
