Parent Organizations
Assisian Booster Club
The Mount Assisi Academy Assisian Booster Club (ABC) was organized to support and help fund IHSA (Illinois High School Association) sanctioned athletic activities at MAA. One of ABC’s primary objectives is to improve active and ongoing cooperation and support among parents, faculty members and student athletes, resulting in enhanced growth and skill for MAA student athletes. Membership in ABC is open to parents of current MAA student athletes, as well as to parents of MAA Alumnae athletes. ABC meets the second Wednesday of the month. All MAA parents are welcome and encouraged to attend. Meetings are usually scheduled at 7pm in the MAA Cafeteria.
The Assisian Booster Club sponsors “Comedy Night at MAA,” an annual fund raising event featuring raffles, dinner and a comedy show featuring some of the best comedians from the southwest side of Chicago.
League of Friars
The formation of the League of Friars began in early 2004 when 12 Mount Assisi Academy dads answered the initial call to come and share their time, talent and treasure. The Mission of the League of Friars is to contribute to the operational and capital resources of Mount Assisi Academy, thereby helping to ensure its place in the education of future generations of young women – the Franciscan Way.
Through their networking with fathers of both current and former MAA students, and contacts outside the school community the League of Friars helps to address the short and long-term resource issues facing MAA – primarily through their fundraising efforts. The League of Friars matches its ability to raise funds to the most pressing needs of the Academy, and also assists the administration and existing clubs and associations with their time and talents.
Mount Assisi Academy Parents Association
Membership in the Mount Assisi Academy Parents Association (MAPA) is open to all parents of students attending MAA. MAPA conducts two general meetings during the school year, as well as organizes and conducts various social events to raise financial support for MAA. Parent involvement in this organization is welcomed and encouraged. There are many ways of actively participating as a member of MAPA, including serving as an officer or on any number of committees, or participating in general and special meetings. MAPA dues are payable in August during Book Days.
